About Navrachana University

Navrachana University was established through the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009, with the intent to offer superior education that beats the high educational standards of the Navrachana Education Society in Vadodara. Traditionally, the purpose of a college education has been to create individuals who possess in-depth knowledge of a specific subject. Unfortunately, this methodology also results in individuals who know little about anything else except their subject. The University has embarked on a new educational paradigm that places simultaneous emphasis on disciplinary education, interdisciplinary education, professional education, and general education. This paradigm is facilitated by the University’s unitary character, offers comprehensive learning, and helps develop T-shape students who have a breadth of knowledge through general and interdisciplinary education and a depth of knowledge through focused disciplinary education.

About the School of Science

The School of Science at Navrachana University focuses on in-depth scientific inquiries that delve into theory and push the frontiers of science to shape the future. The programs are designed to bridge the gap between the student’s aspirations and industry expectations. Working in close association with industrial and academic experts, the School offers several unique undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of Science, with degrees in BSc (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Plant Science and Biotechnology and Animal Science and Biotechnology), Integrated BSc-MSc (Biomedical Science) and MSc (Chemistry, Microbiology, Plant Science and Biotechnology and Animal Science and Biotechnology, Food Science and Dietetics, Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry).

About Baroda

Vadodara, formerly known as Baroda, is a prominent city in Gujarat, India, situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River. It’s approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Ahmedabad and serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district. The city’s name is believed to have evolved from “Vatodara,” meaning “in the heart of the banyan tree,” reflecting the abundance of banyan trees in the area.

Historically, Vadodara has been a significant cultural and educational hub. During the 9th century, the area, then known as Ankottaka (present-day Akota), was renowned for its association with Jainism. The city’s prominence grew under the rule of the Gaekwad dynasty, particularly during the reign of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1875-1939), who envisioned and worked towards making Vadodara an educational, industrial, and commercial center.

Vadodara is home to several architectural and cultural landmarks. The Laxmi Vilas Palace, an opulent residence of the Gaekwads, showcases Indo-Saracenic architecture and is four times the size of Buckingham Palace. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, established in 1949, stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to education and research.

In recent developments, Vadodara has emerged as a significant player in India’s defense and aerospace industries. In October 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara. This facility, a collaboration between Tata and Airbus Spain, is set to produce the Airbus C-295 transport military aircraft, marking a milestone in India’s private military aircraft manufacturing sector.

Today, Vadodara continues to blend its rich historical heritage with modern advancements, embodying its nickname “Sanskari Nagari” or “Cultural City,” and stands as a vibrant center for culture, education, and industry in Gujarat.
